Central Japan has been hit by a strong earthquake which registered a Richter Scale reading of magnitude 5.8 on Saturday morning, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
Shaking buildings in Tokyo, the temblor's epicenter was recorded off 81 km (50 miles) North of the capital. It struck the area at 11:19 am (0219 GMT), USGS reported.
According to reports, the quake did not disrupt the emergency crews who are working to cool crippled reactors around the clock at a nuclear plant hit by a devastating earthquake and tsunami last month.
There were also no immediate reports of any damage or casualties from the latest strong quake.

Japan Tsunami 2011: 30-foot waves caught on cam by coast guards
While sailing 3 miles out at sea, the Japanese coast guards encountered the 30-foot tsunami waves following the massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake that struck the area on March 11, 2011.
The coast guards were able to take a footage as the waves swelled in front of them as they sail straight towards them. The video was released on Saturday.

Nuclear Power Plant radiation leaks in Japan to cause 'acid rain' in the Philippines, a Hoax! - Kim Atienza
There has been a rumor going viral on text messages that there will be an acid rain or radioactive rain occurrence in the Philippines following the radiation leaks from damaged nuclear power plant in Japan caused by the massive earthquake and tsunami a few days ago.

TV host and weatherman Kim Atienza said the rumor is just a hoax. He recently posted the statement below on Twitter, asking users to retweet:
"tweeps, do not believe text messages on radioactive rain coming to the Philippines from Japan. this is a hoax. please RT."
Meanwhile, on a GMAnews report, The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) belied the rumors saying there was no basis for such claims.
"Yung hangin galing sa Japan papalayo kaya di makakarating sa atin. Hindi totoo ang ulan may kasamang acid," PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.
On the news report, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario Montejo said that the "Chernobyl scenario" of radiation clouds from a failed nuclear power plant may subside in a few days.
"There is no immediate threat to the Philippines ... (We are) very optimistic in a few days pwede na natin bitawan yan (We are very optimistic in a few days we can declare no threat to the country)," Montejo told dwIZ radio.
No reason to panic then. Funny some of Noypi's friends want to buy betadine already and apply it on their necks to protect their selves from the radiation. Lol.

Philippines and the Pacific Ring of Fire (Philippine Volcano Map)
After a massive 8.9 earthquake which triggered a 10-meter tsunami, jolted Japan on Friday, March 11, 2011, a tsunami warning has been issued to the countries surrounding the Pacific Ring of Fire which include the Philippines.

The Pacific Ring of Fire (or sometimes just the Ring of Fire) is an area where large numbers of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur in the basin of the Pacific Ocean. In a 40,000 km (25,000 mi) horseshoe shape, it is associated with a nearly continuous series of oceanic trenches, volcanic arcs, and volcanic belts and/or plate movements. The Ring of Fire has 452 volcanoes and is home to over 75% of the world's active and dormant volcanoes. It is sometimes called the circum-Pacific belt or the circum-Pacific seismic belt. About 90% of the world's earthquakes and 80% of the world's largest earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire.
Philippines
The 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo is the world's second largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century. Successful predictions of the onset of the climactic eruption led to the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from the surrounding areas, saving many lives, but as the surrounding areas were severely damaged by pyroclastic flows, ash deposits, and later, lahars caused by rainwater remobilising earlier volcanic deposits, thousands of houses were destroyed.

Mayon Volcano is the Philippines' most active volcano. The volcano has steep upper slopes that average 35–40 degrees and is capped by a small summit crater. Eruptions occur predominately from the central conduit and have also produced lava flows that travel far down the flanks. Pyroclastic flows and mudflows have commonly swept down many of the approximately 40 ravines that radiate from the summit and have often devastated populated lowland areas.
Taal Volcano has had 33 recorded eruptions since 1572. A devastating eruption occurred in 1911, which claimed more than a thousand lives. The deposits of that eruption consisted of a yellowish, fairly decomposed (non-juvenile) tephra with a high sulfur content. The most recent period of activity lasted from 1965 to 1977, and was characterized by the interaction of magma with the lake water, which produced violent phreatic explosions. Japan Earthquake 2011: Over '1000' people feared dead, possible radiation leaks
A day after a massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Japan which is the strongest to ever hit the country in recorded history triggering a destructive tsunami, more than one thousand people are now being feared to be dead. The government also expressed its concerns over possible radiation leaks from damaged nuclear power plant.

The government fears of more destruction as large-scale aftershocks are being experienced. The Meteorological Agency said more than 100 aftershocks had occurred in the past 24 hours, many of them stronger than magnitude-6 on the Richter scale.
The agency has issued tsunami warnings for many coastal regions in the country.
Radioactive caesium has been found near the nuclear power plants of Fukushima in the quake-stricken north-eastern region, the government's nuclear safety commission said.

Evacuations had been ordered early Saturday after the cooling system at a second nuclear power plant broke down in the wake of the massive earthquake.
Residents within 3 kilometres of the Fukushima II power plant were also ordered to leave their homes. Earlier in the day, authorities extended evacuations to residents living within 10 kilometres of another nearby nuclear plant, Fukushima I, where the cooling system experienced troubles Friday.

The country was facing the risk of blackouts as a result of damage to power systems caused by the earthquake and tsunami, the Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) warned Saturday.
The risk of power failures was not confined to the affected areas.
TEPCO urged businesses and residents to use electricity sparingly. The utility could currently provide only 37 million kilowatts of power, which could be increased by 1 million kilowatts by the evening.
The company has sought support from other operators, the Kyodo news agency reported.
TEPCO supplies power to the damaged Fukushima I nuclear plant. Ventilators at the plant had to be opened to release pressure within reactors. A small amount of radiation was released in the process, the company said. rn Japan, while thousands were stranded in Miyagi, waiting for assistance, the Nikkei business daily said.
