Val-d’Or Foreurs left winger Brett Hester has been suspended for two games by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League after an incident in a 5-4 loss to the Saint John Sea Dogs on Wednesday night.
The play happened at 8:34 of the second period at the Air Creebec Centre, just 25 seconds after a Zach Phillips goal cut the Foreurs’ lead to one. Hester entered the Saint John zone where rookie defenseman Guillaume Cloutier was standing and nailed him from behind, causing a big scrum in the corner.
Cloutier was attended to on the ice by Sea Dogs athletic therapist Jeff Kelly before skating back to the bench under his own power.
Hester, a Val-d’Or native, was given a game misconduct and a five minute major penalty for checking from behind.
The QMJHL announced today that the forward has been suspended for a couple of matches. The Foreurs play the Sea Dogs tomorrow night at 8:30 pm at the Air Creebec Centre and visit the Victoriaville Tigres on Thursday.
In 13 games this season, the 16-year old has two goals and no assists.
